Serbia’s Biospringer RS to quadruple yeast output
BELGRADE, Serbia, March 23 (SeeNews) – Serbian yeast manufacturer Biospringer RS, a subsidiary of French company Lesaffre, will quadruple its production to meet increased demand in the Serbian market amid the coronavirus crisis, local media reported.
Yeast production in small packs will increase by 450% and production in packs of 500 grams for bakeries will double, it is planned to quadruple monthly production to 900 tons, Tanjug news agency quoted the COO of Biospringer RS, Laslo Djetvai, on Sunday .
“We also have a plant and manpower for this production and we are counting on the support of the state in procuring the raw material sugar beet molasses to meet the increased demand,” said Djetvai.
According to the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, industrial demand for yeast has doubled, while retail demand for the product has increased six-fold as the coronavirus infection spread.
In February 2018, Lesaffre acquired the yeast extract factory of the US organic food company Alltech in Senta in northern Serbia.
