First gondola for panoramic sightseeing in Serbia
BELGRADE – Construction of the first closed cabin gondola for panoramic sightseeing in Serbia will begin this spring, which will connect the center of Zlatibor with the ski center Tornik, said Arsen Djuric, director of the Zlatibor tourism organization.
“The municipality of Cajetina has paid the French company Pomagalski an advance of four million euros, the equipment will be manufactured, and at the end of February we will invite a tender for a contractor so that construction can start in the spring. The gondola will go into operation in 2016, ”Djuric told Tanjug.
With 250,000 guests and over one million overnight stays per year, Zlatibor has developed into the top holiday destination in Serbia. We hope that the number of visitors will increase tenfold as soon as the construction of the nine-kilometer-long, most modern cable car in Europe is completed, he said.
Djuric announced that new first class hotels Tornik and Iris will open on the mountain. Zlatibor by the end of the year, adding that they will meet the demands of the most picky guests in various areas of tourism, including mountain, congress, wellness and spa.
