According to the Nishville Festival, Jova Radovanović and the group “Sedmorica mladih” are very deserving of the promotion of jazz in Yugoslavia. With this award, they will enter the company of previous laureates, such as Stjepko Gut, Mića Marković, Miša Blam, Nada Knežević.
“I also grew up in that society and hung out with these people and learned a lot from them. When a man says jazz, I think they are special people, they are people who really and wholeheartedly love what they do,” the legendary said. Job.
The group worked from 1959 to 1999. They are best known for their television shows on RTS. With a lot of popular music and sketches, there was always room for jazz. “We couldn’t do without that, we set that as a condition. Jovan Ristic, who was the director, says – is it a must in every show? We say – a must,” Jova Radovanovic recalls.
They played all over the world and were proclaimed Yugoslav ambassadors of culture. The director of the Nishville Jazz Festival recalls: “Fifteen years of touring in the west, 3 years of a Russian tour, 17 famous concerts in 3 days, these are all things for Guinness.”
The award will be presented at the opening of Nishville on August 12. This will also be a nice gift for Jova Radovanović, who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year.
