Dominic Tim is proud of himself after a big turnaround against Nick Kirios in the third round of Melbourne.
The Austrian celebrated with 3-2 in sets, although he lost the first two sets, and saved the break ball at the start of the third.
– It was an epic match, a huge fight. Honestly, I was already on my way home at the beginning of the third set when I faced two break points. This is one of the most difficult challenges in tennis – to play against Kirjos on his favorite court with such an atmosphere, noise, crowd. I am proud and this is a good incentive for me to continue – said Tim.
Kirjos, against whom Tim has never played before, had great support from the fans.
– That is also one of the reasons why I don’t think I played well, that is, why I didn’t feel the best on the field. I never played with him. At first I was solid, and then I had a break. His service was amazing. It’s hard to read. And then, when he plays as great as he does today, you are under pressure. In your subconscious, you think that you cannot take away his service or that you will not have many chances. It was definitely not easy. I am happy that I went through this experience – the Austrian added.
