Glory of the Association of Serbs of Western Slavonia
Serbs originally from Western Slavonia, who live in Sydney, traditionally celebrate Pentecost, the glory of the cathedral in Pakrac. It is also the glory of the Association of Serbs of Western Slavonia, which was solemnly marked this year as well.
Gathered at the holy liturgy in the Church of St. Nicholas in Blacktown, they offered prayers of gratitude to the Lord. The host of the celebration, Stevan Mrđenović, and his family handed over a quarter of the celebration cake to the host for next year, Željko Grašar and his family.
After the prayer, a feast of love was served in the hall, which was dominated by the popular Slavonian specialty – shepherd’s pie.
The Association of Serbs of Western Slavonia and the Blacktown Parish often organize joint charitable actions to help the church and the people in the Diocese of Pakrac and Slavonia.
