Every time we now have a stalemate within the dialogue, Pristina have a tendency to behave unilaterally

A special session of the Assembly of Serbia on Kosovo and Metohija, at which the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, will speak to the deputies, will be held today. MPs should be informed of all details of the dialogue with Pristina.

Visiting the RTS morning program, Nemanja Starovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says that today’s session is an important opportunity for President Vucic to meet MPs, where we are today in the dialogue process, especially after the last round of renewed dialogue in Brussels.

Starovic points out that our position is favorable, because Belgrade represents a side that is responsible, credible, fulfills obligations and has a full right to ask the other side to act responsibly.

According to him, experience has taught us that very often the Pristina side is rewarded for its unconstructive actions, and is rewarded for unilateral moves.

He reminds that Vučić also warned Albin Kurti and European mediators in the dialogue, asking them not to allow endangering the Serbian people and members of other non-majority communities in Kosovo and Metohija.

“Dialogue is stalled not by the will of our side, but by the other side, Pristina is prone to unilateral and even violent moves,” said Starovic.

I am sure that Vučić will repeat such messages today in the Assembly, says Starović.

“We insist that KFOR be the guarantor of security”

He points out that the desire to be so-called. The KSF is being transformed into the Kosovo army, which is unacceptable for us, the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija is the KFOR Mission.

“It was worrying, in recent months, the announcement that the KFOR Mission could withdraw, it is important that there is direct and open communication between Vučić and Stoltetenberg, that we received a certain kind of assurance that the KFOR Mission will not withdraw,” says Starović.

So, we insist that KFOR be the guarantor of security in Kosovo and Metohija, Starovic underlines.

Speaking about the pressures from the EU and the region to which we are exposed, Starović believes that we should refrain from that, so that we do not fall prey to any provocations.

“We often do not respond to numerous poison arrows, from neighboring capitals, because we are looking at the bigger picture, a region that will strive for mutual prosperity, mutual cooperation, we are on the path of economic convergence. We have proved that we can win, but we will not remain blind and deaf to endangering our interests in the region, “the state secretary pointed out.

Two possible directions to Europe

“Our destiny is largely conditioned by our geographical position, we are in the inner courtyard of the EU, there are two possible directions to Europe, one leads through Zagreb and the other through Budapest,” he says.

In the first six months, there were violent incidents against members of the Serbian people and cultural heritage facilities, more than during the entire last year, whenever we have a stalemate in the dialogue, Pristina is prone to unilateral action and provoking incidents, Starovic reiterated.

“Albanian extremists would like Serbs to be gone, and to see tractor columns and cultural heritage to be destroyed, or they want to falsify the historical foundation of cultural heritage,” Starovic concluded, adding that this would not be allowed.
