The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, decided that the Ambassador of Serbia to Poland, Nikola Zurovac, would be urgently returned to our country.
Zurovac signed a letter of support to the Polish LGBT community with 40 other ambassadors from other countries, without informing Minister Selaković.
According to a Blic source, although the letter itself is not a problem, Zurovac did not inform Minister Selaković about all that, and Serbian diplomacy remained completely unprepared for the expected negative reaction of the conservative Polish authorities.
It is added that Zurovac signed the letter the day before Selakovic’s visit to Poland, which met with a negative reaction from the conservative authorities there, especially since the countries of the region, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, did not support the letter.
– Due to this, the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Poland, which was supposed to be realized today and tomorrow, was canceled – the source states.
The decision to recall Zurovac should be discussed at the Government session that will be held on Thursday.
