Kikinda artists. In the category of mixed choirs, Kikinda’s “Attenditte” was third
gold in a row, under the leadership of prof. Dr. Biljana Jeremic.
– Out of a possible 100 points, the “Attendite” choir won 99. This is the third year that we have won a gold medal at the festival in Bijeljina. Considering that we have only existed for less than four years, another recognition is a proof of quality and an indicator that we have put together a good music collective of 50 singers.

We also have an orchestra, and together we have won awards at international choir competitions in Brčko, Varna and at long performances. The year before last, we opened the spring sessions of the National Assembly, and we also sang in the Assembly of AP Vojvodina – says Mako Markovljev, organizer of the program of the Cultural Center Kikinda.
The second gold at the same festival went to the Women’s Singing Group “Melism” at the Cultural Center of Kikinda.

– In front of the eminent expert jury, we participated with the Banat repertoire of songs and proudly brought a gold medal to our city, which confirms the invitation of the organizers to be their guests next year – says the founder and manager of ZPG “Melizmi”, Biljana Mandic.
Founded 15 years ago, the group brings together middle-aged women who are mostly musically educated. With about two hundred performances, both in Serbia, the former republics and throughout Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy), “Melism” has won numerous awards, including the winner of the “Golden Shoe” evening. “In Valjevo, as well as other recognitions, letters of thanks for humanitarian work, a large number of solo concerts, videos, audio recordings from the field, seminar papers.
– We perform songs in 11 languages and in that way we nurture the culture of Banat and all peoples and nationalities who live in it, which is the goal of the group, to nurture differences through the song, certain rituals that the song follows. Let us put emphasis on the Banat song as well as on the authenticity of the performance of Serbian original singing – Mandic points out.

The mentor of the singing group since 2019 is ethnologist and choreologist prof. Gordana Roganović, who with her professional work contributes to the quality and preservation of Banat songs and customs, with the help of associate Jasna Grbić.
