A 30-year-old drug lord attacked members of the anti-drug team in an attempt to oppose the arrest and to flee the scene.
Following a tip-off, a special police team decided to arrest the defendant, who allegedly possessed drugs for sale and consumption.
An undercover agent was hired to arrest the man and the officer contacted the man and made him an offer he could not refuse. “He (the undercover agent) offered me BD600 for a piece of hash. And I agreed and asked him to meet me in Samaheej, ”the 30-year-old told the prosecutor.
Members of the anti-drug team stepped in for the defendant as soon as he received money after handing hashish to the undercover officer.
However, the defendant, who resisted arrest and escaped, beat the police officers and injured one of them. He was eventually arrested. The 30-year-old is being tried in the Supreme Court on charges of drug trafficking and assaulting police officers.
