The President of Serbia visited the works on the rehabilitation of the road Golubac-Donji Milanovac, 55.5 kilometers long, which began a few days ago. The value of the works is around 1.3 billion dinars.
He stated that the road, whose reconstruction has begun, is extremely bad. “We only patched it for 40 years,” said Vucic, who had previously visited the monastery of Tumane.
The President pointed out that the goal is for the entire road from Golubac, through Veliki Gradište, Donji Milanovac, to Kladovo, to be completely new.
“My question is whether it can be done by June 15 next year,” Vucic asked the contractors and received an affirmative answer, unless the weather conditions are an obstacle.
“In the worst case, by the end of June, to be ready before July and August next year, to build beaches in this area,” Vucic told them.
He reiterated that roads in Serbia, especially in the east, have not been renovated for 50 years.
“Our people from abroad will not come to us, when they see that the roads are bad. With new roads and new contents, they will come, and maybe stay,” said Vučić.
He pointed out that the road Donji Milanovac-Kladovo will be completed by the end of the year.
“Then there are 35 kilometers left, until June, to connect everything, and then we will have a fantastic Danube highway,” said Vucic.
It remains to provide other infrastructure and facilities, marina, port, bicycle path, the president said.
The idea of building a glass bridge at the place where the Danube is narrowest
He conveyed that there is an idea that would bring a lot to tourism, to build a glass bridge, at the place where the Danube is narrowest, in Kazan, at a height of 310 meters, which would connect the Serbian and Romanian coasts.
He says that there is no money for that now, but in the future, an agreement on that project may be reached in a conversation with the Romanian side.
“It’s for those who like adrenaline temptations, they would pay dearly for it. But if we had the money, not this year, but not until half past next, then we will see with the Romanian side, to make such a bridge over the Danube, it would was a fantastic attraction, “Vucic said.
He reminded that the Ram Fortress is a wonderful place, that not far from there the Danube is the widest, that the Ram Fortress has been renovated, Golubac also, that work is being done on the Fetislam Fortress …
“And with all that, now you will have a new path, and it is difficult to find a better part of Serbia. That is why I often come here, because we can do a lot,” said Vucic.
Eastern Serbia is the pearl of Europe
The reconstruction of roads in eastern Serbia costs a total of about 45 million euros, which is a huge investment, said President Vučić.
“We do a lot, we create, this is the pearl of Europe, not just Serbia. Everyone who comes here can be convinced of that. It’s something amazing, but in order for people to come back and stay here, we have to make these places be as in Switzerland and Austria, “Vucic said.
He said that there is a possibility that the ship from Belgrade to Kladovo will be re-introduced next year, for which the state is ready to allocate subsidies.
He announced that the “Timok” mine near Bor would be opened soon, at the end of September or the beginning of October.
The reconstruction of roads in eastern Serbia costs a total of about 45 million euros, which are huge investments, the president pointed out.
The representative of the supervisory body of Roads of Serbia, Vladimir Petrovic, said that the works on the section Golubac-Donji Milanovac include removing the existing layers of asphalt, strengthening the existing road construction, improving the drainage system, making new vertical and horizontal signals, and changing the elasto-reflective fence.
“Currently, the works are on removing the existing asphalt, and after the completion of the works, the section will be covered with a new asphalt layer 14 centimeters thick,” said Petrovic.
He stated that the works on the section from Donji Milanovac to Rudna glava, 21 kilometers long, are nearing completion, and that they will be completed by the end of next week.
The reconstruction of the Donji Milanovac-Golubac road is financed by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the PE “Roads of Serbia”. The deadline for completion of works is April 19, 2022.
The works on this section of the Danube highway, which began on August 19, were visited with the president by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, the director of PE “Roads of Serbia” Zoran Drobnjak and the director of “Corridor of Serbia” Aleksandar Antic.
