The crossing was temporarily closed on March 12 last year due to a pandemic, and today it is reopened for all passengers who want to cross into neighboring Romania.
Across the border crossing Nakovo-Lunga, in accordance with the valid agreement, it is possible to pass passenger vehicles, trucks with a capacity of up to 3.5 tons, vans with a maximum number of 9 passengers.
In special situations, it is possible to transfer buses, but with a special announcement and consent of both countries. Although there are all the technical conditions for the passage of buses and all trucks, that is not possible for now.

Work on amending the agreement between the two countries is still ahead with the necessary political will at the interstate level. The Nakovo-Lung border crossing is open from 7 am to 7 pm.

The Nakovo-Lunga border crossing was created by an interstate agreement of the Socialist Federation
The Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and the Socialist Republic of Romania on January 13, 1970. It was then one of the many small border crossings between the two countries, which included the territory of 14 local governments on the Serbian side of the border and 75 communes on the Romanian side.

First, there was a small border crossing where residents at a depth of 20 kilometers on both sides of the border could cross the border area with a special permit. A ten-year lull ensued, from 2004 to 2014, when it was temporarily closed by a unilateral suspension of the agreement and the introduction of visas between the FRY and Romania.
The most significant period dates back to 2014, when it was permanently opened, but as an international border crossing for passengers of any country.
