Political analyst Miljazim Krasniqi says the pursuit of national unity by Albanians from Kosovo and Albania is unfeasible in a geopolitical context.

The ideals would be fulfilled in the second version, but the idea of a mechanical union of Albanians is ultimately dangerous, because it would unite Albanians in five countries in the Balkans, which would be a destabilizing factor, they would be against the United States and NATO and the European Union. that it is useless propaganda that would suit the enemies of the Albanians, in this case Serbia and Russia, who are ready to fight against those goals – said Krasniqi.
In Kosovo, the Self-Determination Movement promotes the idea of national unity, from its founding to the recent snap elections. The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, also stated that unification with Albania is an option, if Kosovo does not join the EU and NATO in the next five years.
However, economic expert Safet Grdzaljija shares his colleague’s opinion that the focus should be on economic development.
– Our journey towards the European family requires the strengthening of Kosovo and in that connection partnership with all countries in the region, especially with Albania – he said to Grdžaljija.
He emphasized that Kosovo and Albania should focus on empowerment towards EU accession, and not on calling for national unity, as a justification for failures.
– Neither Albania nor Kosovo are honored by the fact that they always try to beautify the past, and not to build the future, and in that connection the future and the role of both countries is in the European family. To eliminate economic barriers and all obstacles that stand in the way of improving economic cooperation, for which a detailed analysis should be made. Therefore, national unity should not be used and promoted as an excuse for past failures and as an excuse for the destruction of Kosovo and theft, and in this regard we should remove barriers and use resources and improve economic cooperation – said Grdzalija.
