The striker of the Croatian national football team, Ivan Perišić, tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday and will miss tomorrow’s match against Spain, in the eighth finals of the European Championship.
Perisic will have to be isolated for 10 days, the Croatian Football Association announced, and the rest of the team and the professional staff were negative on the test, Reuters reported.
– The medical team isolated Ivan from the other members of the team and the competent epidemiological authorities were immediately informed about the situation – we gave them the result and undertook to take all measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus – stated the Croatian Football Federation.
Quarantine means that if Croatia passes Spain, the “Fiery Ones” will be without a very important player in both the quarterfinals and semifinals, which is scheduled for July 6.
Perisic was the scorer on Tuesday in the match against Scotland (3: 1).
The Croatian national team is currently at home, and the team will travel from Pula to Copenhagen today for the match with Spain, which will be played tomorrow at 6 p.m.
