Weight problems pandemic (3): Serbia, a slave to unhealthy habits

In Serbia, 83.8 percent of people had the habit of eating breakfast every day, and 89.3 percent of them were older than 65, more often in Šumadija and Western Serbia, 90.5 percent, and the least in Vojvodina, 73.9 percent.
41.8 percent consume at least one cup of milk and (or) dairy products a day, less than in 2013, when there were 51.7 percent. 86.2 percent used bread every day, 89.4 percent more men and 90.4 percent older than 65. Most residents of Southern and Eastern Serbia – 93 percent.
The use of animal fats for preparing meals has increased, the highest in Vojvodina, where it was 51.3, and the lowest in Belgrade – 26.4. The ointment is more often used in suburban settlements, where it accounts for 53.9 percent of consumers, while in urban areas it is 29.7. Citizens of Serbia use it a lot, and 9.5 percent or every 11th respondent says that they add salt to food before they try it.
That habit has not changed significantly compared to 2013 and 2006. Fruit was eaten daily by 39.4 percent of Serbs, the least by the people of Šumadija and the inhabitants of Western Serbia by 27.8 percent, and the most by 51.5 percent of Belgraders. Vegetables or salads are served on a plate daily by 50.2 percent, much more often by the inhabitants of Belgrade – 57.3 percent, and in Šumadija and Western Serbia by 41.7 percent, women by a percentage of 53.8 percent, men less by 46.4 percent.
58% more often educated and 58.9% more materially better. According to the research of the Institute, 64% of the EU population ate fruits every day, and 63.6% vegetables. This shows, in both cases, that the percentage of EU citizens is higher, especially in fruit consumption, than in Serbia.
Far from the Mediterranean
In Serbia, 6.6 percent of citizens eat fish at least four times a week, a third once or three times a week, and six percent never consume it. Residents of urban settlements, higher and higher education have more on the table, and the use of fish increases with the increase of household income.
