Investigations of lithium, boron deposits and the accompanying association of elements will be performed in the wider area of Dobrinja, at ten points marked with the number 2,428.
The information caused anxiety among the inhabitants of Donja, Srednja and Gornja Dobrinja, Ježevica, Madjera, Papratište, the village that will be included in the research.
At the gathering, which was held yesterday in the home in Srednja Dobrinja, it was decided to prevent the beginning of geological research, because the inhabitants of those villages have not been informed at all that any geological research will be carried out in their villages.
Representatives of the Initiative for Požega, Dveri, DS and SAA today submitted a request to the Department of Urbanism, Construction, Communal Affairs and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Požega for more detailed information on geological research. They asked for the decision to be revoked, until it is determined whether there is a harmful impact on the health of the population of the municipality.
The deputy president of the municipality, Ivan Novaković, stated that everything is done in accordance with the law, the local self-government has no authority, but the competent ministry has given its consent.
“These are investigative activities, which have yet to determine whether there is the presence of lithium and boron. So there is no danger to the life of the population and geological research should not be used for political purposes,” Novakovic says.
The Ministry of Mining and Energy notes that 95% of approved geological surveys are completed without certification of reserves and opening of mines.
“There is no risk to the health of the population, because it is done in accordance with the law. In addition, the inspection services will control and in case of any deviation from the project during the investigation, they can revoke the right to investigate,” the ministry said.
