The Director General of Civil Protection, Brigadier Mohammed Al Hutai, reiterated the support and instructions given by the Minister of the Interior, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to develop civil protection and improve the skills and competencies of the staff.
He also praised Lieutenant General Public Security Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan’s follow-up to step up public security efforts.
He made the statement on the occasion of the International Day of Civil Defense, which takes place on March 1st each year.
He said planning, flexibility in assessing situations and endless support are the main reasons civil defense personnel are professional in responding to daily coronavirus-related cases and operations.
He pointed out that protecting the public’s life, property and general safety is a top priority, where the department looked at 16,579 cases last year.
The civil defense carried out disinfection work on streets, buildings, shops and public and private facilities until February 26, 192528. The department trained 2,219 people from the public and private sectors and delivered 369 online courses and lectures.
