All over Bahrain, mosques for the prayers Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon) and Asr (afternoon) will be open again from Thursday.
The decision is based on the opinions of the Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs and the recommendations of the National Medical Task Force to Fight the Coronavirus (COVD-19), as well as consultations with the Sunnis and Jaafari Foundations, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Foundations said.
The ministry stressed the importance of taking all precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety, adding that decisions based on developments would be regularly reviewed.
Congregational and Friday prayers were suspended in Bahrain on March 28 after mosques closed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Fajr prayers were allowed to return to mosques on August 28th, Dhuhr on November 1st and Asr on December 6th.
However, prayers and religious events in mosques were suspended on February 11th to protect the elderly from acute infections.
Physically capable Muslims must say five prayers a day in mosques – Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghreb (sunset) and Isha (evening).
