The tennis world was visited by a scene from the ATP tournament in Santiago, where French tennis player Benoit Perr deliberately made service mistakes and lost several points in a row in order to end his match with Dancer Holger Vitus Nedskov Rune as soon as possible. After that failure, Per spoke about the state of the ATP and expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation, saying that the organization “has no taste”.
Per recently criticized the ATP for the way it treats players in connection with the quarantine necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
– The ATP tour has become sad, boring and funny. I know everyone will tell me that I am not aware of how lucky I am to be in this position, but I did not start playing to perform in empty stadiums and in this atmosphere. What is the joy of traveling if I have to be in a hotel and if I am at risk of getting a fine when I go out on the street? Tennis has become a job without any taste – said 31-year-old Benoit Per.
– I need time to adjust to this fake ATP tour. I will try to find a new way to enjoy the game. My goal is to have a smile on my face when I hit the ball. Whether I win or lose, I don’t care at all – said the French tennis player, who is currently the 29th player in the world.
Per won three ATP singles titles in his career, and earned a total of just over eight million dollars from tournament awards. The best placement in his career is the 18th place on the ATP list, and he never passed the fourth round at the Grand Slam tournaments.
