Venerable Sisoje the Great was a native of Egypt in today’s Egypt and a disciple of Saint Anthony.
With hard labors over himself he tamed himself so much, that he would be meek and innocent as a lamb. That is why God gave him great grace, to heal the sick, to cast out unclean spirits, and to raise the dead.
While still alive, he became famous as a healer and miracle worker, so many came to him for advice and medicine. Sisoje lived in the desert for sixty years.
