United’s fish stinks from the top, Klopp is extra involved about who cursed Liverpool than protesting
The big derby on the Island was questionable because nUnited fans announced protests and riotsunhappy with how the Glazer family is running the club.
The English giant has been stumbling for a full decade both on the domestic and European scene, which has continued in the new season. Two defeats were recorded at the beginning of the competition, which is the worst start for Manchester United since the Premier League was played.
The debacle from Brentford (4:0) forced the biggest fan group to issue a harsh statement and threaten “radical measures”.
“As we have always said, the fish stinks from the head. The ultimate responsibility for the catastrophic state of our club must lie in the hands of the owners, the Glazer family,” the fans’ statement reads.
During the summer, United brought in a new coach, Erik ten Haag, but even the Dutch expert who worked wonders with Ajax, so far, is not managing to stabilize the team.
Partly because of the very poor playing staff, and partly because among them, the biggest star feels dissatisfied. Cristiano Ronaldo told the club leaders that he wants to leave the “theater of dreams”, but he is in a big problem because no one wants him, so he will most likely stay in the red jersey.
The transfer of Casemiro from Real Madrid is considered a big step towards getting out of the crisis, but it seems that the most successful English club is far from a peaceful haven.
On the other hand, the roses are not blooming for Liverpool either, who opened the new season with two unexpected draws and are behind their biggest competitor, Manchester City. Arsenal, who are playing fantastically at the start, are even more behind them, so the “reds” are under the imperative of victory.
Recently, the team from “Anfield” has a great score against their biggest rival – in the previous three matches, they hit United’s net as many as 13 times, and in two games last season, they put the ball behind David de Gea as many as nine times.
Since the Devils last beat Liverpool in the PL, it was in March 2018, they have fired two permanent managers (José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer), as well as two interim managers (Michael Carrick and Ralf Ragnik).
Jurgen Klopp believes that the duel will be played on schedule and hopes that everything will pass without incident.
“I hope it doesn’t happen, but if it does – I think we need to get points. We have nothing to do with that situation at their club, Manchester United fans are the ones who want the match to be cancelled. We can’t just postpone the game and to fit it into a very tight schedule,” said Klopp.
The British media remind that last season’s duel between Manchester United and Liverpool, which was originally scheduled for April 10, was canceled because the fans of the “red devils” fought with the police.
The German expert is facing major personnel problems, as he cannot count on a large number of players. There will be no Darwin Nunez who naively earned a straight red card against Crystal Palace, while the injury list is very long.
It features Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Kurtis Jones, Joel Matip, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ibrahima Konata.
“We have an extremely demanding week ahead of us. Every day someone new gets injured and we often think that someone has cursed us,” added Klopp.
