Belgrade coach Damien Mori
On May 3, the football players of Belgrade learned the name of the next rival in the FFA Cup on the territory of South Australia. The draw was at the same time ruthless and perfect for the Serbian club, as it will meet Adelaide City, a member of the Premier League and the most famous club from this city, in the next round.
As a reminder, Adelaide City is a club founded by the Italian community and was the three-time champion of Australia, that is, the then elite NSL league. He won the titles in 1984 and 1986, led by Serbian expert Zoran Matić, who spent a total of 14 years on the club’s bench in as many as three terms.
In addition to Matic, City was led by the famous Rale Rasic at the end of the seventies, and the coaching and playing legend of City is also the current head of the Belgrade profession, Damien Mori. As a football player, he became the best scorer of Adelaide City of all time, and for 11 seasons as a coach, he led the black and whites.
Former Red Star player and Australian national team player Milan Ivanović, who was the champion with this club in 1992 and 1994, when Damien Mori also played in the same team, also left a deep mark in the “Zebra” jersey.
The upcoming game at Frank Mitchell Park will be played on May 15 at 2:30 p.m. The visit of City is certainly the best possible invitation for the entire Serbian community of Adelaide to come and support Belgrade.
