The American journalist stated on his Twitter account that the president of the Tennis Association of Australia, Craig Tiley, told him that Djokovic will certainly play in the first Grand Slam tournament of the season next year.
Djokovic did not play in the tournament in Melbourne this year since he was deported from Australia in mid-January.
In January, the Federal Court of Australia rejected the Serbian tennis player’s appeal against the cancellation of his visa because he was not vaccinated.
The best Serbian tennis player was banned from entering Australia for three years, but Alvarez claims that the circumstances have changed and pointed out that Djokovic will be able to play next year in Melbourne.
Djokovic won the Australian Open nine times in his career.
