The picturesque village with a characteristic name kept the inhabitants, and new ones came. About sixty houses and plots were sold, and last year alone, it is estimated, 15,000 tourists visited Vrmdž.
“Vrmjafest” is one of the manifestations that contributed to that.
“The problem of the death of the Serbian village is topical and approximately through films in a way, and we contribute to pointing out to people to work on helping people stay in the countryside in villages where there are initiatives,” said Slaviša Krstić representative of the local Action Group “Rtanj”.
The film Malajska zora, shot in Malaysia, by Dragoslav Gogić and produced by RTS, was declared the best in the category of tourist films.
The most famous mountaineer among journalists is a great lover of nature.
“I love Vrmdž a lot, because there are rocks here where we practice, make national championships in bouldering and free climbing, so I am extremely glad to receive the award at a festival like this,” Gogić emphasizes.
In honor of nature, the festival awards the honorary award “Petar Lalović”, which is still an inspiration to the creators. This year’s laureate is Dragan Vidojković, journalist and founder of the “Ecopolis” network from Niš.
“The Petar Lalović award is really binding. It is about a director, a screenwriter, a man who made over 350 environmental films and received the highest awards, “Dragan Vidojković points out.
“Vrmjafest” is held at the foot of the former Latingrad on the slopes of Rtnje. For the fifth time, he manages to draw the public’s attention to the preservation of nature and the importance of the survival of the Serbian village.
