The filming of the collection “The Crown” was paused after the dying of Queen Elizabeth
“The crown is a love letter to her and for now I have nothing to add, only silence and respect.” I also expect that we will stop filming out of respect,” Peter Morgan said in a written statement to Deadline on the occasion death of the British Queen Elizabeth II.
So far, four seasons of the series have been shown, the fifth is scheduled to air in November, and the sixth season is currently being filmed.
Netflix, according to Deadline, has long had a plan in place in case the queen dies during the show’s run.
One of the directors and producers of Kruna said in 2016, when the first season of the series premiered, that the crew would stop filming and other production activities for a while if that happened.
“None of us know when that time will come, but it would be right and proper to pay our respects to the Queen.” It would be a simple acknowledgment and sign of respect. She’s a global figure and that’s what we need to do,” explained Stephen Daldry, director and producer of the series, at the time.
Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton have portrayed the role of Elizabeth the Second at various stages of her life throughout the series. Each actress, and this was known from the very beginning, was given the opportunity to play the British queen during the two seasons of the series. Staunton has yet to be seen by audiences in this role.
