Serbia will strive to get closer and have even better relations with countries that belonged to the Non-Aligned Movement, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in the first days of May.
He also explained that this does not mean the re-establishment of the Non-Aligned and that Serbia remains on the European path again. He also revealed that a gathering could be held in September on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.
– My idea is to hold a rally in September, but it will depend on the crown, and to invite some of the high Indian officials and people who founded the Non-Aligned Movement – said Vučić, adding that he meant India, Ghana, Indonesia, Egypt and more. state.
According to him, these were the countries that then participated with Yugoslavia in the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement.
– And I will talk to all those leaders, not to start a new Non-Aligned Movement. We are on the European path, but to get closer and make relations even better, because we can help each other much more than we think – said Vučić.
The President of Serbia pointed out that Josip Broz Tito managed and found solutions for his policy.
– I say that even though, for national reasons, I am not the biggest supporter of his policy, but it is meaningless when someone says that Tito was stupid and incompetent. He succeeded and found curves in world politics, so he was certainly not a clumsy statesman – said Vučić.
A lesson from history
The year 2021 has a special significance for Egypt and Serbia, because it is being celebrated for six decades since the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, agreed the mayor of Belgrade Zoran Radojicic and the ambassador of Egypt Amre Alguvejlij who was the mayor’s guest in the Old Palace.
– This is an extremely important jubilee and an important historical event that we are obliged to mark in order for the younger generations to learn about our past – said the mayor.
Nurturing friendships
The nephew of the first lady of the SFRY, Jovanka Broz, praised the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, saying that the friendly relations he has with world officials are reminiscent of the past.
– Serbia will look to build better relations with African and Asian countries – Vučić stated on that occasion.
