Serbia’s H&S Fruits breaks floor for manufacturing facility in Arilje

BELGRADE (Serbia), March 14 (SeeNews) – H&S Fruits, registered in Serbia, has started construction of a fruit processing factory in Arilje, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

In the first phase of development, the factory will produce pulp and fruit concentrates that will be exported and processed to Hungary, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement earlier this week.

The value of the investment was not disclosed.

H&S Fruits is a 50/50 joint venture between the Serbian company Stanic and the Hungarian Horizon Food Kft.

The new factory will export concentrates made from raspberries and other fruits, said Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic during the laying of the foundation stone.

Similar projects are being carried out in collaboration with Hungarian investors in other places in Serbia such as Merosina, Bojnik and Koceljevo, said Nedimovic.

Raspberries are grown on around 15,000 hectares in Serbia. The Arilje area in western Serbia has intensive plantations where the yield per hectare reaches 30 tons, compared to the national average of 6 tons per hectare.
