RTS :: Vilagoš and Topić arrived in Belgrade: That is only the start
Vilagoš, after the second consecutive gold in the javelin throw at the Junior World Championship in Cali, she won silver at the first senior competition in her career in Munichwhile Topić “tied” the world junior and European senior bronze.
“I really didn’t expect that after the world junior gold, I would win the European silver in the senior competition. It didn’t start very well, in the qualifications I only reached the final in the third attempt, and then it was easier for me. All this will be a great motivation for me to continue working and the goals I have,” Vilagoš told reporters at Nikola Tesla Airport.
Angelina Topić, who reached bronze 32 years after her father Dragutin won the European gold, pointed out that she still needs time to settle down.
“I did not expect, I was not ready for this, neither for the result, nor for the placement. I am really glad that I made history, I will remember this as long as I live,” said Topić.
Vilagoš and Topić will be the big trump cards of Serbia at the Olympic Games in Paris, and when asked by a journalist what the “distance and height goals” are, they said that they want to progress as much as possible, and Topić even joked.
“Last year, my magic height was 190, now I have overcome it. And in Paris, height is not important, just to win a medal,” the talented athlete emphasized.
Serbia won a record four medals at the championship in Munich, as Ivana Španović won the gold in the long jump, and Armin Sinančević won the silver in the shot put.
