“Partibrejkersi”, together with the audience, on September 22, at the Belgrade Fair are celebrating the anniversary of four decades of work. Zoran Kostić Cane, for RTS, says that many things are different today.
– I can’t write a thousand years again or Move towards me, but some other songs with some other observations can. I hope.
When you founded the group “Partibrejkers”, 40 years ago, that name is something that always stands next to your name. Today you celebrate four decades. What’s in them?
– It’s a whole life, playing music is not separate from life. It’s all intertwined, so we grow, fall in love, suffer, rejoice, children, wars, inflation, but the effort to maintain a band is hard, it’s really like a family.
What is the deadline today? Do you see the potential in someone to continue what you created?
– Young people continue what we do, which is the fight for the truth, to think for themselves. The idea of freedom leads them too. All the essential postulates that make music good live in others as well. It just depends on how open you are to yourself and honest to the world and how much pain you can bear for the sake of some love.
Today, when trends change quickly and songs don’t last long, you are still authentic in appearance and voice. What message have you been sending with music these 40 years?
– True testimony. You have to have a good song. The song is the most important thing, you can’t get ahead of the song. The song and then everything else, to have a song that will be able to survive over time. When you make a song and record it and it goes on the air, it no longer belongs to you, it belongs to other people.
When you do big concerts in Belgrade, you seem to choose the location carefully. After Tasmajdan, this time the Fair?
– It’s the atrium, the big parking lot between those halls, that’s what I was told, but I wasn’t there either. Since we were one song short for Taš, we had two to release, so it seems like there is some imperative to perform there.
