Although it is not typical for the beginning of June for the level of UV radiation to be high, it still happens. Doctors advise avoiding the sun from 11 am to 5 pm for the next three days, but if it is necessary to go outside, be sure to apply a protective cream and protect your head and eyes.

We asked Prof. Dr. Danica Tiodorović, a dermatologist-oncologist, what exactly “red” and “orange” radiation levels can do to the skin, and she explains for Žena.rs that in the next three days we must be careful when it comes to staying outdoors.

– Any exposure to the sun can be dangerous, specifically, the orange and red level warns us not to expose ourselves to the sun because if we are not protected we can get burns, but it certainly acts as a carcinogen, so caution is advised. In the following days, go out only if necessary, and with the obligatory physical protection, preferably wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses with UV protection, long-sleeved shirts. On the exposed parts it is necessary to apply a photoprotective cream with SPF 50, UVA / UVB protection and of course fluid intake, says Professor Tiodorović.

The risk groups include children, but also fair-skinned people, as well as those who already have a skin problem or melanoma.

– Do not expose children to the sun unless it is necessary, and be sure to protect them in all ways. All this also applies to risk groups, adds Professor Tiodotrocić.

Where it will be most risky

A high UV index is expected in the north of Serbia, from Palić to Belgrade, Smederevska Palanka, Loznica and Valjevo, to Negotino. A very high UV index will be recorded in Banatski Karlovac, Vršac and Veliko Gradište.

A slightly lower UV index is recorded in Ćuprija and Kruševac, while moderate radiation will be in Niš, Leskovac, Dimitrovgrad, Peć, Prizren, Priština, Vranje, but also in the central parts – from Požega, Zlatibor, Sjenica, Kopaonik, to Kraljevo.

During tomorrow, all parts of our country will be “orange” (high UV index) and “red” (very high), so the strongest index (8) is expected in Loznica, Sjenica, Krusevac, Ćuprija and Vranje. The day after tomorrow, the highest radiation (8) will be in Sjenica, Krusevac and Cuprija, but also in Leskovac and Pristina.
