Portraits of Patriarch Pavle till June 7 in “Šumice”

Until June 7, all those interested can see the unique exhibition “Portraits of Patriarch Pavle”, author Hadži Marko Vujičić, photo reporter of “Vesti” and long-time editor of “Orthodoxy” – the newspaper of the Serbian Patriarchate,
The exhibition was officially opened last night when the “Shumice” Center celebrated its glory – Saints Cyril and Methodius.
In the crowded hall of this Center, visitors were presented with 33 portraits of the most beloved Serbian patriarch created in the period from 2003 to 2009.
The author of the exhibition, the photo reporter of “Vesti”, Hadži Marko Vujičić, pointed out that the Serbian patriarch Pavle was a spiritual giant who marked the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century.

– Patriarch Pavle was at the helm of the ship of the Serbian Orthodox Church in a very difficult time of disintegration of SFRY, civil war in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, difficult period of international community sanctions, fall of Republika Srpska Krajina, exodus of Serbian people from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the consequences of which we are just beginning to feel, as well as the arrival of exiles from Kosovo and Metohija, where the blessed Serbian Patriarch Pavle, as Bishop of Raska and Prizren, spent 33 years – said Hadzi Marko Vujicic.

He emphasized that the time of the Serbian patriarch Pavle on the throne of Saint Sava marked the national awakening, returning to God and searching for the path of knowing God.
– It was the time of building temples, returning Saint Sava as a school holiday, introducing religious instruction in secondary and primary schools, as well as the return of the Savior’s Day liturgy to the streets of Belgrade, our capital…
The exhibition “Portraits of Patriarch Pavle” was organized with the help of the city municipality of Mladenovac and the project for the exhibition to visit all places in the homeland and the diaspora where Patriarch Pavle lived or served.
