Acting President of the Football Association of Serbia, Marko Pantelić, gave an interview to the Journal in the holiday issue, during which he touched on the currently most painful topic of Serbian football – non-placement, for which UEFA received new material from round to round.
Pantelic pointed out that the obligation of women of Serbian football is to create conditions for independent and uncertain competition at all levels, as well as that it is necessary to create mechanisms that will promote true sports values, but that this fight requires cooperation with the state and UEFA. .
– The obligation of leading people in football is to encourage the competitive spirit and create conditions for independent and uncertain competition at all levels of football in Serbia. Also, these levels need to be connected and the functional system of the football pyramid needs to be determined. We are obliged to promote all sports values: football without corruption and doping, fair play on and off the field, anti-racism, absence of discrimination… If we implement all this and ensure the application of all mechanisms, the championship must be regular. Also, for this battle, cooperation with state bodies and UEFA is necessary – said Pantelić.

In an extensive interview, Pantelić also touched on his playing career, with a special emphasis on the period spent in Hertha and Ajax, clubs that are especially engraved in his heart. Pantelic is still the record holder as the best Serbian scorer in the Bundesliga with 45 goals, but he hopes that he will be overtaken by some of the current national team players.
– Germany is a country where I matured as a player and as a person. Before that, I started a family, and in Berlin my wife and I had another child. Germany, Hertha, Berlin – the country, the club and the city, tied me to themselves. The record is certainly beautiful when it is made, I am honored to have experienced it… I believe that in the future someone will come, maybe the guys who currently play in the national team, whether Mitrovic, Jovic or Vlahovic, and break that record…
He also recalled the period in Amsterdam, where he played with Luis Suarez in the attack of “Kopljanik”.
– Ajax, a club that has a deep place in my heart and that connection with the people there and with the fans that was achieved in a very short period of time, and it still exists today, is something phenomenal. I am grateful to have been the work of a large family like Ajax. It is a connection that was established in a very short time, but it is unbreakable.
– I have never singled out any player in particular. Lewis made a phenomenal career after Ajax. Together, the entire Ajax team scored 106 goals that season, which is a phenomenal thing. It is a phenomenal feeling to be a part of such a team and today we all remember those moments together and keep them in the most beautiful memories – concluded Marko Pantelić.
