Cuban Granma reports that 36-year-old men were killed in the protests, as well as that there were injured who were transported to the hospital. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that it regrets the death of a person at the protests.
During the biggest protests in Cuba in the last few decades dozens of people were arrested. It was calm on Monday, but the presence of the police was noticeable on the streets. President Diaz-Canel blamed the protests on the United States and Washington’s sanctions, which have been stifling Cuba economically since 1962.
Thousands of Cubans went out on Sunday to protest against authorities across the country. These were the largest protests since the beginning of communist rule in 1952. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
