During the trial of police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of an African-American George Floyd footage from cameras worn by police officers was shown at the time of the arrest. They hear Floyd begging the police to let him go.
Floyd is also heard talking to his mother and children while the police were holding him on the ground, Reuters reports.
Passers-by then approached the police and said that Floyd would suffocate because of the way they were holding him on the ground, and they also warned them to check his condition when he was unconscious.
Officer Derek Chauvin, who was fired shortly after George Floyd’s death, is charged with the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin pleaded not guilty, and his lawyers are trying to prove that Floyd died from an overdose of narcotics, since fentanyl and methamphetamine were found in his blood.
George Floyd’s death provoked protests against police brutality against African Americans across the United States and the world, and gatherings in some cities became violent, which is why the police had to intervene.
