Serbian Radio and Television has the exclusive right to record an all-night music spectacle that will take place on September 8 on the stage of the Tasmajdan Stadium.
On this occasion, the Serbian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra performs under the direction of Diana Chobanov, General Music Director of the State Opera in Plovdiv, who is also engaged as the residential conductor of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb and chief guest conductor at the National Theater in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
The repertoire of arias and duets from Verdi’s, Puccini’s and Mascagni’s operas, Placido Domingo performs with sopranos Ana Piroci with a dramatic coloratura soprano from Italy and Marija Jelic, a rising star, whose recent performances were with world opera diva Elina Garanca.
The encounter with the powerful voice of the Spanish artist captivates the audience thanks to the talent and experience he gained since his opera debut in 1957 and developed during his decades-long career, and it was marked by more than 150 different opera roles, Pavarotti and Jose Carreras.
He is the winner of the world’s greatest recognitions, Grammy awards, honorary doctorates and decorations of numerous countries, and in addition to everything he has achieved, he still writes pages of music history.
Opera is not the only sphere of his activity. Domingo performs as a conductor and artistic director. He founded the opera competition “Operalia” in 1993, thanks to which many singers received an excellent reference for the development of their further international career.
The cultural event of the year, in addition to placing Belgrade at the center of world opera events, also marks the end of BELEF.
