Mege’s junior team won the final tournament of Europe through drama.
Megini’s kids defeated their Red Star peers 82:80 in Zeleznik in the final after a great turnaround.
The fact that they were 19 points behind the red and whites in the 23rd minute (51:32) speaks volumes about their feat.
Gradually, they “melted” the difference, so that four minutes before the end, Mega equalized and the drama began.
Nikola Jović and Andrija Vučurević brought a turnaround, so that the point would be put when Zvezda’s Vladimir Popović lost the ball seven seconds before the end.
Mega will fight for the tournament in Cologne, the four best teams in Europe.
The hero of the match was Jović with 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, Nikola Đurišić added 17 points, and Vučurović and Radovan Kompirović added 11 points each.
At Zvezda, Ognjen Matović scored 23, Nikola Šaranović 19, and Filip Branković 15.
