Spanovic jumped the first three series, after that she missed the jumps, only to return to the runway in the sixth series. She achieved the best result of 6.74 meters in the third series.
The second place was taken by the German Malaika Mihambo, and Marina Beck Mironcuk the third position.
The new season also brought new rules in the Diamond League, and that is that after the fifth series, the competition is continued by the athletes who have the best three results, and the winner is the one with the best result in the sixth series. Spanovic triumphed thanks to the best jump in the sixth series.
“I honestly don’t support the introduction of new rules in this way, maybe it’s interesting for the audience … But as far as I’m concerned, I really had a result for third place, that’s how I feel. I believe that good changes require some time to get used to. I have two sets due to foot pain, but in the end we still decided to try to jump the sixth set which eventually brought me my second victory in the competitions this season.We will continue with training, the focus will be on sprint and less on jumping to the foot recovered as soon as possible, “said Spanovic.
The best Serbian athlete also set a new record for victories at Diamond League rallies – today’s triumph is the thirteenth victory since the formation of the Diamond League.
