Detail from the match between Springvale and Melbourne Victoria

After more than a year of forced break due to the coronary virus pandemic, football life in Melbourne has returned to normal. After all, there is great regret for the completely lost season in Victoria, since football has not been played in this country since the end of the 2019 season, that is, for a full 17 months!

At the opening of the long-awaited season, the first of the Serbian clubs to appear on the field were the players of the Sringweil Belch Eagles, who hosted the young team of A-league member Melbourne Victoria in the first round of the Third Premier League in Victoria (NPL 3). The Serbian team deserved the least draw from this match, but in the end they had to come to terms with a minimal defeat – 1: 2.

It is safe to say that the victory of Melbourne Victoria was mostly contributed by the referee, who overlooked the obvious offside in the first goal and awarded a penalty for the guests when the first half had already expired. Although there was contact during the disputed situation, the ball was already in the goal-out so the White Eagles were drastically damaged.

To make matters worse, in the last five or six minutes, when they had a chance to get a point, the Eagles were left with a player less because Nenad Nikolić was excluded from the game due to two yellow cards.

At the end of the game, the White Eagles scored a great goal from a free kick from 25 meters, which was the work of Nasir Husseini. This goal introduced the match into the result uncertainty, the team of coach Artur Kirician attacked, but there was no more time for a possible change of the result.

In the foreplay of this duel, the young, ie reserve teams met, and the victory was taken by the Melbourne Victoria football players with a convincing 6: 1 (2: 0).

The Springvale White Eagles were the hosts in the first round, and the draw determined that the Serbian team will be the host in the next four rounds as well. The Eagles will host Preston Lions Macedonia in the Serbian-Macedonian derby on Friday, March 26, at 8:30 PM. The young teams of the two clubs will meet at 6:15 p.m.

“Expelled” from their house

A completely incredible situation took place the day before the match between Springvale and Victoria. The decision of FS Victoria changed the location of the match, so instead of the Serbian Sports Center Keysboro, as previously announced, it was decided at the last minute to play on the field of Caroline Springs George Cross in Fraser Rise, over 60 kilometers northwest of the White House. eagles.

The reason for the change was the current state of the field in Keysborough, whose grass surface has only recently been cleared and it is estimated that it is not ready to play matches.
