A tragedy that Montenegro doesn’t keep in mind – how the bloodbath occurred in Cetinje

Striker Vuk Borilović (34) was in the center of Cetinje yesterday killed ten fellow citizens and wounded six.

During the bloody drama in which he also killed two children, the assailant shot randomly with a hunting rifle at neighbors, the emergency medical team, members of the police and passers-by.

According to the authorities, during the exchange of fire with the police, he was shot dead by a fellow citizen, who tried to convince him to surrender, and not by the police, as previously reported.

Previously, Borilović refused to surrender to law enforcement authorities, even though he was surrounded.

His body was sent for an autopsy last night, and according to unofficial information, he has multiple gunshot wounds.

It was said that the experts will determine how he died and whether he was shot from a single weapon.

Chronicle of the massacre

According to official data, the attacker entered the apartment of his tenants around 15:30 and killed an eleven-year-old boy at the door, then his three-year-younger brother, and then shot their mother through the window.

After killing them, he called their father and husband and told him: “I killed both your family and mine,” according to the interlocutors of Vijesti from the Police Department.

In the next 45 minutes, within 80 meters of his house, he killed seven more people and wounded six.

The authorities explained that after killing the boy and his mother, he entered the neighbor’s house where he killed two elderly fellow citizens and seriously wounded their 32-year-old grandson.

On the threshold of that house, he also killed their son, who ran towards the house when he heard the shooting.

Borilović also killed a neighbor, and then his uncle, and then, going down the street, he also killed two female neighbors.

The news was told that Borilović, armed with two rounds of bullets and a rifle in his hand, turned towards the neighbor’s house and called him to come outside.

He wounded four other neighbors, as well as a police officer who was trying to subdue him.

Crossfire

The police officers who came to the scene after the reported shooting were unable to approach the assailant, because he opened fire on them.

He also shot at the Emergency Medical Aid team, preventing them from helping the wounded fellow citizens.

The authorities say that they are still determining why the thirty-four-year-old decided to commit the brutal act and call for solidarity with the families of the victims.

Three days of mourning began today in Montenegro.
