The ruling Social Democratic Alliance and the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) will run together in the local elections in Northern Macedonia, and the agreement was reached at the meeting of the leaders of these two parties, Zoran Zaev and Alija Ahmeti, Gazeta Express reports.
Coalition partners agreed that both parties should co-operate in the autumn local elections, in some municipalities from the first round and in others in the second round.
– I had a great meeting with the coalition partner and DUI leader Ali Ali Ahmeti. We agreed that SDSM and DUI will participate together in the local elections – said the leader of the Social Democrats, Zoran Zaev.
The Macedonian Prime Minister emphasized that the common goal of SDSM and DUI is to include as many parties from the ruling coalition in pre-election cooperation.
– The following are the procedures for selecting the best candidates, they will be people who dare and who are ready to give the best result for the citizens in every city, in every village, in every neighborhood – said Zaev.
The opposition is reacting to the pre-election coalition
Alliance for Albanians Chairman Ziadin Selja commented on the pre-election coalition announced between DUI and SDSM for local elections, saying DUI leader Ahmeti is clearly afraid of the opposition Alliance for Albanians because he rejected the challenge offered by the party to run in local elections without coalitions. and without counting the votes of Macedonian parties.
