Dafina Berisha (21) from Kosovo, a candidate for the Social Democratic Party, wants to be the first Albanian MP in the German Bundestag.

Her pre-election promise is that in addition to the goals of the party she comes from, she will be the voice of the rights of Albanians in the German parliament.

The law student, who has been an activist in the SDP since the age of 17, says she has always been politically ambitious.

– 9,000 Albanians have the right to vote in Hamburg, and not a single Albanian is in the German parliament yet. I want to be the first member of the Albanian nationality to promote the rights of Albanians and young people in the Bundestag – said Berisha.

She pointed out that about 400,000 Albanians live in Germany, who, as she stated, are disorganized.

– We have to deal with politics, because only if we are active can we change something. Other foreigners are more organized than Albanians. There are many intelligent Albanians, but we need to be more engaged in terms of organization – said Berisha.

Berisha is ninth on the list of candidates, which, as she stated, shows great support for young people to run and promote the rights of students. Speaking about personal efforts in the campaign, she cited the example of her mother, who is a nurse.

– We have seen how bad the conditions are, few workers and low salaries. We also strive to increase the minimum wage – said Berisha.
