Miloš Hranisavljević’s company participated in the design and execution of many construction projects in Belgrade. Visiting the Belgrade Chronicle, he said that it is very difficult to assess the reasons collapse of a building in Vidovdanska Street.
“The problem is complex, because we need to look for answers in both the project and the contractor, whether he followed everything that the project ordered to be done,” Hranisavljevic points out.
As it was announced, the Construction Inspection determined that the contractor did not secure the foundation pit in accordance with the approved project. When asked what the investor gained by not providing a foundation pit, Hranisavljevic stated that the answer is very simple.
“They get a cheaper facility, because this part of the work represents a significant part of the entire investment. Everyone is trying to perform the minimum work that is needed. If that is determined, either some part has not been done completely, or not done conscientiously,” says Hranisavljevic.
He notes that the construction inspection compares the project with the state of execution of works.
He points out that there are a number of events that will follow before such a collapse.
“These are cracks, cracks in the building, cracking of tiles, sewage and water pipes, that the windows cannot be closed nicely, all this indicates that damage can occur,” says Hranisavljević.

He thinks it all ends with the performer.
“He must have experience, level of education, be able to perform such a facility and apply other measures that are not included in the project. And in the world it is not much represented yet, to perform auscultation of the foundation pit, to be done by measuring if some movement to know that something is happening and to warn something like this “, Hranisavljević notes.
He does not know, he notes, whether it was done on the project in Vidovdanska.
“On very serious and important facilities, the project envisages that. Even when that is not given by the project, my company performs such works in order to preserve ourselves and other surrounding facilities,” adds Hranisavljević.
Rain, he says, will not make anything difficult and burying the foundation pit is the only measure to prevent it.
“This is the only measure to prevent it, which does not mean that when the foundation pit is buried, it will stop with deformations in the surrounding buildings, but there will certainly be no deformations as when digging,” states Hranisavljevic.
Something like this, he adds, happens.
“The project provides answers to all questions about how to perform the work, but the information that is the starting point of the project is not enough. The most important are geo-mechanical research and often investors skip that part to keep the budget as small as possible, because something is assumed. they should be verified and right “, says Hranisavljević.
