Exact circumstances assassinations of the President of Haiti last week they remain foggy, reports the Guardian.
The latest suspects are among five fugitives whom Haitian police say are armed and dangerous.
Among those wanted is former Senator John Joel Joseph, a well-known Haitian politician and opponent of the Tet Kale party to which Moise belonged.
The Guardian states that in a video published last year on YouTube, Joseph compared the assassinated president to a coronavirus.
Police have identified another suspect as Joseph Felik Badio, who worked for the Haitian Ministry of Justice and joined the government’s anti-corruption unit in March 2013. The agency issued a statement saying Badio was fired in May after “serious violations” of vague ethical rules. adding that she had filed a complaint against him.
The third suspect was identified as Rodolphe Zhar, who uses the pseudonym “Whiskey”, and in 2013 he was sentenced to almost four years in prison. At the sentencing hearing in 2015, his lawyer said that Zar was a confidential source for the American government for several years before the indictment was filed.
New details of the suspects’ investigation emerged when they were relatives of Colombian mercenaries those killed and arrested in Haiti for their alleged involvement in the assassination said they were recruited by text message stating that “the American company needs special forces, experienced commandos, for work in Central America.”
According to the New York Times, the message also stated that they would “help rebuild the country, in terms of renewal and democracy, and that they would be pioneers.”
