Volunteers prepared the service
Last weekend, the Serbian Orthodox Parish of the Holy Trinity in Rotterdam organized more than successful Vidovdan Days. Unlike earlier, when the celebration of Vidovdan was without any restrictions, this year the program was smaller, but no less solemn and magnificent. In any case, it was much better than last year, when the event was not even organized due to state measures related to the corona virus.
On Sunday, after the liturgy, the Vidovdan Academy was organized in the church, and Father Vojislav Bilbija, the elder of the church, priest Krsto Stanisic, the parish priest of the new parish in the province of Zealand, the young Tijana Maric and the church choir of the Holy Trinity participated. The program was led in a very inspired way by Katarina Vujić, the president of the Church Council.

Prota is already to the general satisfaction, and according to tradition he played the violin, this time the song “Death of mother Jugović”. Father Krsto spoke about Vidovdan and the Kosovo Covenant, which even today Serbs, wherever they live, have to fulfill. Tijana Marić recited Dobrica Erić’s “Defiant Song” very emotionally, and the church choir enlarged the entire academy by singing “Song of Kosovo Heroes” and “Oh Kosovo, Kosovo”.

Numerous volunteers who are active within the parish took care of the impeccable service and barbecue specialties.

On Vidovdan itself, on Monday, after the liturgy, a memorial service was held for soldiers and military leaders who died from the Battle of Kosovo to the present day, thus officially ending the Vidovdan Days in Rotterdam.

Contributions for Kosovo
The Vidovdan Days in Rotterdam had a special character this year, with the parish of the Holy Trinity supporting the action of the humanitarian organization All for Kosmet. The branch from Dortmund was present with a special sales stand, and the believers generously supported the collection of donations intended for the endangered monastery Devic, the construction of a sports hall in Orahovac and the Keljevic family from Zubin Potok, who live in more than bad conditions. Exactly 1,839 euros were collected.
On that occasion, Zani Ana Radmilovic, an activist of the Dortmund branch of the SZK, spoke to the audience about the history and activities of this humanitarian organization. She thanked the Rotterdam church community for the invitation and the opportunity to help our compatriots in Kosovo and Metohija through the Vidovdan action.
