Belgrade investigated Pristina’s requests, however didn’t act on any requests
In that sense, he reminded of the locations in the southern Serbian province, where, as it is suspected, the remains of the killed Serbs and non-Albanians are located.
During the session, Odalović showed a video showing the bodies of three members of the Yugoslav Army on the ground in Košare, as well as digging holes in which they were later buried.
As he stated, in that case, Pristina first refused to act upon the request due to the danger of the terrain, ie due to the minefields.
“The army came out to meet us, gave us a map of the minefields, we handed them over to KFOR and the search of those locations began. We were in 2011 to see what stage it was in, it wasn’t finished and it was slow. The Norwegian from KFOR said they never saw better and more accurate maps of minefields “, said Odalović and pointed out that these soldiers are still listed as missing.
He also reminded that there are 350 remains in the morgue in Pristina, for the identification of which they have been waiting for two decades.
As he says, several locations were reported around Gjakova where illegal detentions were held, which are known to have been in those camps, and are still listed as missing.
“Seven people were found in the bunker in Gjakova, a family of five – a father, a mother and three children who were killed, as well as the Petrović family,” Odalović said.
He points out that the Commission insisted on opening international archives because, as he says, according to the reports of the international KFOR contingents, some locations became known after 19 or more years.
“We insist that the archives be opened, the document was made in 1999, it is a report of the Swedish forensic team. Information about this existed, it was in a drawer, but after all the campaigns when the archives started to open, we got a picture of it. body in front of the bunker, and we were at that location after 19 years, “Odalovic said.
He also notes that the Spanish KFOR contingent found three female bodies, took pictures, marked the coordinates, but that it is still unknown where those bodies are buried.
An appeal to Pristina to respect the undertaken obligations
When it comes to fulfilling the request of Pristina, Odalović says that even after the request to search the Church of Christ the Savior in Pristina, with the blessing of Bishop Teodosije, it was done and it was established that there was nothing there.
“We have no problem processing the information about the bodies of Albanians, because we are the ones who solved more cases where Albanians are, than everyone else together,” Odalovic said, adding that Belgrade submitted more than 2,000 documents in the exchange of documents. which were put into function to find the remains of Albanians, while no document was obtained from Pristina.
Odalovic said that Serbia will remain committed to further search for missing persons and that there is no reason to change anything, because it has approached that problem in a responsible and transparent way so far.
He asked Pristina to respect the undertaken obligations and called on everyone to treat all missing persons with a lot of responsibility and without distinction.
The President of the Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, says that resolving the issue of missing persons for Pristina is only resolving the issue of missing Albanians.
“They are not interested in the issue of missing Serbs, they want to hide it because determining the fate of missing Serbs, Roma and other non-Albanians, but also Albanians themselves, would determine the extent of the crimes of the terrorist KLA,” Drecun said.
He says that Pristina denied that there was an archive of that organization at the meeting in Brussels and thus, as he says, deceived the international public, because the law adopted in Pristina on the values of the KLA clearly speaks about the archives of that formation.
“From that archive, one can certainly see the sum of many missing persons, both Serbs and other non-Albanians, but especially Albanians. The working group that this committee for gathering evidence for KLA crimes has international documentation that clearly states that in 1998 they were members of the KLA they kidnapped Albanians in the village of Raca and all trace of them has been lost since then, “he said.
Drecun points out that the temporary institutions in Pristina should also ask for answers about the missing Albanians from the leaders of the then KLA, Thaci and Haradinaj.
“The issue of missing Albanians cannot be resolved through Belgrade alone,” Drecun concluded.
