EU member states have decided to return Serbia to the list of epidemiologically safe countries, whose citizens will be allowed to travel to the EU.

At this morning’s meeting in Brussels, the ambassadors of the member states supported the position that Serbia has a “satisfactory epidemiological situation”, which enables its citizens to travel to the member states without restrictions.

In addition to Serbia, the list of “safe” countries includes Northern Macedonia, Albania, the United States, Lebanon and Taiwan.

This expanded list should officially come into force on Friday, June 18, it was said in Brussels.

As a reminder, on July 1 last year, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the EU introduced a list of so-called safe third countries to which the EU borders will remain open.

The list has so far included eight countries: Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

The list is based on a number of epidemiological criteria, including the degree of vaccination, and with the latest update, it includes 15 countries.
