Bears in the Novo Varoš area have not been anything new for a long time. They mostly gravitate towards the mountains Zlatar and Murtenica, however, since they woke up from their hibernation at the beginning of this year, they have started approaching their houses like never before. They were spotted in rural households in Negbina, on the way to the village of Jasenovo, and have now been spotted in Ojkovica.
“When he swam, he went into the woods. Only 500 meters from that place, there is a shore in which there are about twenty houses. While he was in the water, I was not afraid, but when he came out and when I later had to stop my boat to fish, I didn’t care, “says Božo.

The bears that live on these mountains are mostly herbivores, but according to the hunters, there are also some carnivores and they represent a greater danger both for people and for the livestock of the locals. A few days ago, the bear caused an unusual theft, when, probably very hungry, it broke down the feeder and ate corn that was prepared for wild boars. Hunters advise that if you meet this large animal, do not run away, do not show fear and that as soon as you see it, start talking to it in a calm tone. Then, as they say, the bear will stop for a moment, and then just bypass you and continue on its way.
