Crowd in front of Bonirig’s goal
The match between Hakoe and the White Eagles will be remembered as a turning point for both teams. Unfortunately, our club got the thick end, because the 3: 1 defeat practically nullified the chances for a possible breakthrough to the top of the table and the fight for the playoffs.
On the other hand, Hakoa broke out among the leading four for the first time with a victory. More precisely, in the third place, he shares the same number of points as the Wanderers academics who are in the second position.
Things didn’t go so badly last week at Hensley Athletic Field, Hakoe’s home ground in Eastgardens. What’s more, the first half completely belonged to our team.
The first chance was 22 minutes, when Radovan Pavićević gave the return ball to David Vranković from the first, and he transferred the home team’s goal. Soon, Vranković plays to Pavićević, and he hires Petersen, who shoots from the first from five meters, but only at the goalkeeper.
Mackenzie in the middle jump
In the 36th minute, another attack by the Serbian team, when Petersen assisted Pavićević, and he shot from the right side of the penalty area and brought the Serbian team to a well-deserved lead of 1: 0.
The hosts played mostly incoherently during the first 45 minutes. Our players were faster and won most of the duels in the middle of the field.
At the beginning of the second part of the game, a nine-minute disbelief followed, which swept our team. Three goals directed by Cox, Mendez and Cotton were enough for a complete turnaround and a 3: 1 lead.
Mood Pavićević retaliated for the Serbian team with an effective shot, but this attempt was all that our football players managed to do.
It sounds striking that this defeat happened according to almost the same scenario as in some previous games. The most recent memory is the defeat of St. George City (5: 2) after 1: 1 in the first half.
Next Saturday, the Eagles visit Hills United. The match is scheduled for seven o’clock in the evening at the Lily Homes Stadium in Blacktown.
