In Becej, a town in the northern province of Vojvodina, a new Knott Autoflex Yug plant for the manufacture of parts for car trailers was opened on Thursday.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic attended the ceremony today together with Minister of Economic Affairs Goran Knezevic, Chairman of the Vojvodina Provincial Government Igor Mirovic, President of the Vojvodina Assembly Istvan Pasztor and the German and Hungarian Ambassadors Axel Dittmann and Attila Pinter.
The plant, an investment worth 1.3 million euros, will employ 150 new workers, said the Serbian government. According to Vucic, 33,000 people are currently employed by German companies that do business in Serbia.
He “has expressed the hope that that number will rise to 35,000, while it could exceed 50,000 in the near future.”
“Serbia’s public finances are secure and now it is up to us to provide our citizens with a good standard of living. The national debt has started to decline,” said Vucic.
The Knott Group has three companies in Becej – Motorflex Overhaul, Knott Autoflex Yug and the Autoflex Foundry. More than 90 percent of the products manufactured in Serbia are exported to the EU countries, Israel, Russia, Turkey and the USA.
