Hard days: Aleksandar Vučić
President Aleksandar Vučić addressed the nation after the visit of the EU Special Representative for Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, and the State Department Special Representative, Matthew Palmer, and warned that “we will not have easy days”. He said that he was trying to address the session of the UN Security Council in New York, which was scheduled for Tuesday, only six hours after the sentencing of General Ratko Mladic in The Hague, so it is expected that criticism will be expressed against Serbia.
– The verdict will be pronounced on Tuesday at 3 pm, and you can decide for yourself whether it is a coincidence that a session of the UN Security Council is scheduled for 9 pm on the same day, at which criticism of Serbia is expected. I don’t have to say how difficult the situation will be for the Serbian people and Serbia. As for the session itself, I have another technical problem. Hague prosecutor Serge Brammertz and judge Carmel Adjius will have the right to address the Security Council (via video link), and for now I am not allowed to do that – said Vucic.
We will not be humiliated
He explained that he would try to get involved in the work of the session via video link, and if that is not possible, he will try to go to New York because he has the right to attend. According to Vučić, at the session, the Serbian leadership will be criticized for disrespecting The Hague for failing to act on a binding order for the extradition of former SRS MPs Vjerica Radeta and Petar Jojić.
The President said that he would go to Brussels with the delegation a few days later and that he hoped that he would have enough strength and support to do great things for our country.
– What is important for us is that Serbia does not stand for a frozen conflict, but we want to solve it and not leave it to our children. But, we sought understanding for the basic state and national interests of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian people – said Vučić and added that he would always be ready to discuss compromise solutions, but never about the humiliation of Serbia.
We’re looking for all the missing
He pointed out that he responded to the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly Ivica Dacic, but that he also wanted to respond to the invitations of the presidents of certain non-parliamentary parties, and to assure her that a way could be found to submit to the Assembly what is happening in Brussels.
Vučić said that Serbia was completely ready for a dialogue on missing persons, which Pristina insisted on, but that he demanded that the representatives of the Kosovo Albanians show the same responsibility towards the Serbs who were killed in Kosovo and Metohija.
– We still have several dozen Serbs killed in the morgue in Pristina and we are asking to be allowed to analyze the remains. We offered the Albanians to carry out all the necessary excavations in places where they suspect that there is a tomb (in central Serbia), but we also ask them to do the same – said President Vučić and added that he has several indications where civilians are buried.
Putin at the opening in Torlak
Vučić stated that the production of the satellite Sp against the corona virus starts on the same day at the Torlak Institute, which will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link.
– We will talk as two presidents and together with the management of Torlak we will start production. In a few days, you will have Serbian vaccines that we will offer to our citizens and people around the world – said Vučić and added that the construction of a factory for the production of Chinese Sinofarm vaccine will follow.
We will also make car batteries
The President of Serbia said that in 2014 he was forced to work on financial consolidation, that salaries and pensions were reduced so that we could benefit from it today. He pointed out that according to EU data, Serbia is now a leader in economic growth with Lithuania, and that a different period is ahead in which the motherland will dedicate itself to ecology. He especially pointed out the company Rio Tinto, which arrived in Serbia in 2002 with the intention of mining lithium.
– Only about 100,000 people live in the entire Podrinje. They all fled to Belgrade and Novi Sad. Serbia has significant reserves of lithium, which is necessary for batteries for electric vehicles. The whole Podrinje would prosper – said Vučić.
He pointed out that 2,100 people would work on the construction alone, and that the demand for lithium will increase an incredible 58 times by 2050.
– It is very important that we will not have liquid, but solid waste material that will be recycled and used in other industries. For the next 56 years, we could have both processes and 600 million euros. The next process is the production of batteries for electric cars – said Vučić.
Rebirth of Bor and Smederevo
President Aleksandar Vučić pointed out the success of RTB Bor, saying that the Chinese Zidjin revived that company. He reminded that at the end of 2018, RTB Bor was in debt, which exceeded the total capital by 600 million, and with 4,270 employees.
– Today we have 5,723 workers, which is more than 700 new jobs, and the average monthly salary has reached 860 with about 500 euros. Bor is a city in Serbia where real estate prices are growing the fastest and where new apartments are sold the most, thanks to to this success – the President underlined.
He pointed out that RTB Bor increased its income from 336 to 876 million euros in three years. Also that two Chinese companies, Hbis, which took over the ironworks in Smederevo, and Zidjin RTB Bor are the first two exporters of Serbia.
– From the sixth copper producer, we will become the second in Europe by the end of the year. Only Poland is ahead of us – said Vučić.
