Zagreb should make an official decision on the purchase in the day of the army.

At the session of the Croatian Defense Council, support was given to the government for the purchase of French fighters.
The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, did not want to answer the question whether he knew which plane was being bought.
After the official decision of the Government on accepting the French offer, negotiations on the contract will follow.
If the contract were signed this year, France would deliver the first six planes in 2024, and the remaining six a year later.
On the other hand, Milanović pointed out that planes must be in Croatia by 2024 at the latest.
The purchase of Israeli F-16s failed
Zagreb’s previous attempt to buy Israeli F-16 “barracks” fighters at the end of 2018 was blocked by the Pentagon.
Namely, the American government must give permission to a country that wants to sell its planes originally purchased from the USA to a third country.
The administration of then-President Donald Trump was allegedly “angry” over the fact that Israel was dishonest and tried to make money at the expense of the United States.
It is also stated that Israel upgraded the electronic system of the planes in order to sell them to Croatia.
